Dior Homme Parfum is a distinct leather scent with an intense iris. It hasn’t been discontinued as it lives on in a new form of 100ml (compared to the old 75ml version). The composition comes in an Eau de parfum concentration and it is sporadically available at online retailers as well as select physical stores.
Dior Homme Parfum is one of the legends of the fragrance world
Some people say it’s discontinued while others try to find it frantically on fragrance forums. The old 75ml version has been slightly updated and the new 100ml version is now available in stores, but not as much as you’d first think.
The main appeal of Dior Homme Parfum was its hard-to-get marketing approach. You found it in airports and a few of the biggest stores in capital cities around the world. That was it. But today, you can find it a bit easier online and the good news is it’s worth the hype.
Dior Homme Parfum smells like iris, leather, and oud
Christian Dior Homme Parfum is one of my favorite fragrances. I wasn’t sure it was for me when I first sprayed it. In time, it grew on me and it became a top 5 men’s fragrance in my collection. Here are the Dior Homme Parfume base notes you have to like to truly love this fragrance
- Top notes – Tuscan Iris, Italian orange
- Mid notes – Leather, rose
- Base notes – Sandalwood, musk, oud, and cedar
These notes are some of the finest and most difficult to extract you might consider. Take the iris in the perfume. This iris note takes a few years to extract. The iris flower is left to dry for at least 3 years. It is then transformed into a powdery iris note, usually of strong essence. This note is almost too much when sprayed heavily as a result. Such principles certainly apply when you overspray Dior Homme parfum.
Sandalwood from Sri Lanka is used to spice up the composition. Created by Francois Demachy, this perfume was the result of extensive research that included this new type of sandalwood as a Dior supplier.
The leather note is obtained from Russian leather or birch oil. Tanned leather is saturated with birch oil in the creation process of the note. The final result is a distinct scent you smell from the opening to the dry down.
A perfume that lasts all day – the review of the uncrowned Dior king
This perfume tends to last and last. I first applied it in the afternoon and it was still projecting strong early in the evening. To my surprise, its walls still projecting vividly the next day. I’d say the most I got from it is 28 hours with intense projection.
If you want to make the perfume last even longer (although not truly needed), you can easily pair it with the Dior Homme Aftershave (get it here on Amazon).
Since it projects and it lasts so long, this Dior perfume for men stands out easily. It’s not the type of Dior fragrance that goes unnoticed as both men and women smell it immediately.
In my opinion, it gets a 10/10 for projection, 10/10 for longevity, 10/10 for uniqueness. The area where I mark it down is versatility.
It is also clearly a winter-time fragrance. I wore it in the summer as well, but it simply attacks your nose differently in high heat. In the winter, it comes off as classy and comforting. This iris perfume for men has that niche fragrance for men DNA which means you will have to know how to wear it. If you’re just getting into fragrances, it might be a bit too much. But if you’ve tried other cologne for men, this can be a much-needed step up.
Dior Homme Parfume is a men’s fragrance that isn’t an everyday scent. A single spray of the perfume can be too heavy for some people around you. It isn’t even as mass-pleasing as other Dior perfumes.
It has a special feel to it which recommends it for formal wear. As a result, Parfum works for official work events, ceremonies, and most outdoor activities since it can appear a bit too intense indoors or in small rooms.
This is where you get Dior Homme Parfum
Dior Homme Parfum is the most expensive Dior perfume for men. This being said, you can get it a bit cheaper at online retailers.
Conclusion
Unexpected from a house as Christian Dior, the perfume is heavy, mysterious, and up-class. It is distinct from Dior Homme Intense. If you’re one of those people looking for comparisons as Dior Homme Intense vs Parfum, you need to know you can own both.
Both the Dior Homme Parfum 100ml and the Dior Homme Parfum 75ml are fragrances that last for at least a year and even more since they’re worn on occasions.
